Instructor Highlights Carol Axtman has taught Survey of Business for NSU through CUC for the past five Fall semesters. She has also taught Organizational Management for CUC. Carol loves Survey of Business because it encompasses the complete business cycle. NSU is one of Carol’s alma maters. She graduated from Presentation College and Northern State University in Aberdeen, and received an MBA from the University of South Dakota in 1981. Now, retired from full-time work, Carol was most recently a financial advisor for Ameriprise Financial Services. She still holds a Certified Financial Planner license and believes passionately in financial planning. Prior to starting her own business as a financial advisor, Carol was the Director of Child Nutrition for the State of South Dakota. This position administered 14 nutrition programs for the state, including the National School Lunch Program. While in that position she introduced and taught management and financial classes to the school lunch program annual training at South Dakota State University. She also held the position of Office Administrator for the South Dakota Attorney General and was the first investment analyst for the South Dakota State Retirement System. Carol is married to Seb Axtman and they have four children and 10 grandchildren. In addition to seeing grandchildren, her hobbies are gardening, golfing, traveling, reading, and (sometimes) playing the piano. She is a member of St Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
