Violet Catches is a graduate from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she earned a Master's Degree in Linguistics. She has been teaching at the Pierre Indian Learning Center since 1998, five Native Languages. She is a certified Elementary Education teacher in South Dakota. Violet has been teaching Lakota Culture and Language or Lakota Language for many years. Her interest is to publish Lakota Children's books in an orthography that she developed. napshawin le miye!
